"Finding A Dance"
It does not matter if you are traveling on the road or if you are at home. You would like information on local dancing and don't have much time to spend researching for information. Not to worry, just go to Where's The Dance on the web. You can select events and select the type of dancing event you are interested in, where you are, mileage range, etc. and display that information on a map, list, or calendar. In addition, You can vary the months and dates. Once you find an event or club, you can drill down to the club's dance and in many cases there are flyers and maps. Give it a try. It is a very good resource.
"Resources In Learning To Square Dance"
1. Once you have decided to go to a class to learn Square Dancing, you find out how much fun it is. But as you learn, you also find some additional information and resources would be helpful. One of the best is Taminations www.squareyourdance.com. When you link to their site, they use a block (Male) and a circle (Female) to indicate the individuals in a square. Each couple in the square is a different color. All calls from all possible positions are covered from Basic Level through Challenge C-3B. You can set the call in motion as slow or fast and follow what each dancer is doing in the call. Definitions are included. You can download this program to your computer or cell phone. It becomes a great resource when you need to review calls.
2. Another good resource uses a different approach. In the case of Video Square Dance Lessons, this resource used live dancers with a caller to show the actual square dancing. There are two ways to view these videos, either by requesting each call through a call index or by requesting a lesson index within Basic/Mainstream or Plus Level. There are related multiply calls in each lesson index. Spend a little time and view these videos. You will find it is another great resource.
